Several Types of Memberships Available!

Cana Volunteer Rescue Squad is currently accepting applications for membership.

Requirements for Membership:
-No experience necessary. Training will be provided*.
-Must live in or within 6 miles of our primary coverage area.
-Must consent to criminal background check, random drug screening.
-Must have an acceptable driving record.
- Must have an acceptable 6 months probationary period.

*One must obtain at minimal an Emegency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) certification prior to providing care. Courses vary in length and are typically offered in Carroll County or Surry Community College continuing education department. Tuition reimbursement may be offered for members.

Auxiliary Memberships are available for those who wish to support Cana Rescue and it's members with events and on call.

Junior Membership starts at age 16.

Cana Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc. held its annual Officer election for the upcoming year. The squad welcomes its new officers and wishes them well as they guide the squad. Effective January 1, 2014, we are proud to announce the leadership as noted below:

Cana Volunteer Rescue Squad provides Basic Life Support  and Advanced Life Support services. The squad operates three ambulances, a first response vehicle, a special services all terrain vehicle,  and a technical rescue services trailer.
The 2013 EMS Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, October 5th, 2013. Cana Volunteer Rescue Members received the following commendations:

Tony Butcher- Driver of the Year
Stacey Shelton- Special Projects

Cana Volunteer Rescue Squad is pleased to announce our acquisition of 3 new LifePak 15 monitors from the successful procurement of RSAF Grant funds. These monitors will replace our current Zoll M Series monitors and offer more advanced features. This is a great advancement in technology for us!
